EUEA refreshing its Focuses in Energy sectors and Geographically

EUEA logo text ENGEUEA is an independent non-profit organization open to all stakeholders in the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) sectors who want to work constructively with like-minded members to contribute to the gainful and transparent development of these markets in Ukraine, through the promotion of fair and sustainable business practice, raising of public awareness of energy issues, and by influencing government energy policy.

On the 19 of January, 2017,  European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) held its Annual Members Meeting, elected new Board of directors and presented new strategy for EUEA development in 2017.

In 2017 EUEA will increase its focuses on the market and will cover not just RES and EE sectors but also will keep an eye on Waste Management, ESCO contracts, Security and Gender Equality in Energy sector of Ukraine.

Moreover, EUEA decided to divide a main conference “European-Ukrainian Energy Day” into smaller, more concentrated on real business cases issues and moved few of it into the regions - Odessa and Lviv. 

EUEA Director, Ms. Valentyna Beliakova said that “Ukraine is a large country and we want to continue bringing our open and transparent platform for discussion of energy policy to as many people as possible. With regard to the signed Memorandum on cooperation between the European Union and Ukraine we will continue to monitor and support implementation of the Association agreement and new MOU on energy strategic partnership between the EU and Ukraine.  In addition to widening our geographical focus, we also work on our Energy Club for women to improve the conditions and bring new people to the sector. We believe this will reduce level of corruption, improve understanding of energy efficiency and increase the implementation of renewable energy supply”. New board has absolutely gender equality and will support the new Strategy and Women’s Energy Club. 

Mats Lundin was re-elected as the chairman of the organization and discussed IT security in power plants and transmission networks which in his opinion must be improved in order to connect the Ukrainian electricity network to the Western European system. He has promoted the use of secure communication for many years in the companies he has been part of starting in the country.

Newly elected EUEA Board 2017:

Chairman of the Board – Mats Lundin, Celynx Energy Solutions GmbH

Mats Lundin is a Past Board Member and re-elected Chairman of the Board, working as advisor for financing and development of energy, wind, water and industrial projects with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe. Mr.Lundin will continue to support EUEA in 2017 to have sufficient resources to be a voice for good policy and development of the Ukrainian energy sector

Vice-Chairman of the Board – Maryna Ilchuk, Arzinger Law Office

Maryna Ilchuk is Head of Energy and Natural Resources; and Public Private Partnership departments at Arzinger. Maryna advises domestic and foreign clients operating in the area of Energy, Oil & Gas on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues. Being specialized as lawyer Ms.Ilchuk will support EUEA in sustaining and confirming its status as leading Aassociation in the energy market, through the contributions into position papers, round-tables, conferences and other activities.

Board member – Elena Rybak, iC consulenten Ukraine

Elena Rybak is Managing Director of iC consulenten in Ukraine since February 2013. iC consulenten is an Austrian engineering company working in multiple technical fields. Elena was Director of the EUEA for the first 3 years of organization’s operation. In 2017 Elena is planning to support EUEA with organizing event related to energy efficiency in buildings and make a contribution into the Energy Efficiency Working Group.

Board member  – Kirill Ermichine, DTEK

Kirill Ermichine works at DTEK as Head of the Department for international public affairs. Kirill is a member of the Board starting from 2015, contributed to the main events in 2016 - successful 7th Energy Day and high-level event in Brussels in December, devoted to new MoU on energy strategic partnership between the EU and Ukraine. DTEK is an important player in the main fields of EUEA’s activities such as RES and Energy Efficiency and in 2017 he will continue to support EUEA's events and activities in cooperation with the reputable DTEK Academy.

EUEA welcomes new and old members to its upcoming events, which will surely transform Energy Policy discussions in Ukraine and will have the positive influence on making Ukraine more attractive for investors.
