Meeting on "Development of Infrastructure for Charging Stations in Ukraine for Electric Transport"

38781051 315959635628400 6415449163214880768 nThe European Ukrainian Energy Agency today held a meeting on "Development of Infrastructure for Charging Stations in Ukraine for Electric Transport", attended by EUEA members and interested market participants as well as representatives of international organizations. Today, the focus was on the need to register a new type of economic activity in the Classifier (CEA) - charging services for storage batteries. Participants supported the registration of a new CEA and shared their  experience to make the most rational approach.

Recall that the Directorate of State Policy in the field of Digital Infrastructure for Transport and Postal Services of the Ministry of Infrastructure, supporting the initiative of EUEA, created a separate working group to address the issue of creating a new type of economic activity in the CEA. The first meeting was held on July 30, where the participants of the working group expressed completely different proposals in this regard, which revealed the need for an additional meeting and the formation of a consolidated position of EUEA members and market players.

In addition, NCREU in the Explanation Letter dated April 17, 2018 (http://www.nerc.gov.ua/?news=7547) noted that the charging of electric vehicles is not an electricity supply, however the Commission did not determine what exactly this type of activity is. Thus, the owners of the charging stations find themselves  in an unregulated field of activity, which does not promote the development of the infrastructure of charging stations for electric transport.

In the nearest future, a Letter with the arguments for the creation of a new type of economic activity will be prepared, which will be sent to the Ministry of Infrastructure and published.

For reference, the European Ukrainian Energy Agency held a press conference in February, where it presented its own position on the development of the Infrastructure for charge stations in Ukraine, and also held a round table  with market participants.

Also, EUEA is preparing proposals for the European Commission to decarbonise transport and infrastructure that Oleksandra Gumeniuk will present at the next 15th Eastern Partnership Transport Panel on 18 September 2018. The report and materials of the 14th Eastern Partnership Transport Panel are described in the article.
