Sustainable Finance Forum Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia was hosted in Kyiv, Ukraine on 11-12 March 2020 by Greenpact – consulting company from Netherlands which mission by catalyzing dialogue & developing innovative collaboration models between private sector committed to creating a social and environmental impact.
European-Ukrainian Energy Agency was a general partner of SusFinForum, an annual forum for banks, microfinance institutions, asset managers, project sponsors, investors & financiers in the EECA region (Eastern Europe, Caucasus & Central Asia) that are committed to creating a social and environmental impact in the region. The goal of the forum was to catalyze investments for sustainable infrastructure and development in the region, through innovative financing models.
Among topics which were discussed at the event, were sustainable finance snapshot in the region, key risks: local currency financing, blended finance for serving undeserved markets, green and social impact bonds, financing & developing renewable energy projects, financing energy efficiency projects.
EUEA members, Alina Sviderska – Head of GR and Business Development Manager at Scatec Solar, Magnus Johansen, General Manager of NBT Ukraine were invited to speak about sustainable financing of the renewable energy projects. Together with Rodion Morozov, Head of Green Finance of Ukrgasbank and Oleksandra Gumeniuk, Direcotr of EUEA they discussed the impact of FDIs to the financial sustainability of the bank sector of Ukraine and what actions are needed to secure the RES industry.
