The Law on Energy Efficiency – a short critical overview

This Draft pursues basically reasonable intentions: technical requirements for energy consumption, introduction of energy classes for materials, buildings and products, compulsory energy management in companies, energy audit and a number of government support measures (grants, credit interest compensation, tax exemptions). However, a lot of questions and requests remain unresponded.

EUEA representatives took part in the VI International Conference on “Biomass for Energy”, held on 14-15 September 2010 in Kyiv.

Organizers of the conference were: Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Scientific-Engineering Centre “Biomass”.

EUEA participated in VI Ukrainian Municipal Forum held on September 9-10 in Yalta. The event was organized by USAID’s Municipal Heating Reform Project and Development Initiative for Advocating Local Governance in Ukraine (DIALOGUE) Project together with Association of Ukrainian Cities. EUEA Director, Elena Rybak briefly introduced the Agency and EUEA Member Haase Energietechnik AG presented the landfill biogas project in Kremenchug.

Representatives of EUEA participated at the 8th JRC Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings held in Moscow on September 2-3, 2010. The event was jointly held by Joint Research Center of European Commission and Russian Energy Agency.
The overall aim of the workshop was to contribute to the implementation of the new energy efficiency projects, measures, policies and financing schemes in Candidate Countries and European Neighborhood Policy Partner Countries with particular focus on improving end-use energy efficiency in buildings and industry.
