The Law on Energy Efficiency – a short critical overview

This Draft pursues basically reasonable intentions: technical requirements for energy consumption, introduction of energy classes for materials, buildings and products, compulsory energy management in companies, energy audit and a number of government support measures (grants, credit interest compensation, tax exemptions). However, a lot of questions and requests remain unresponded.

Ukraine signs the Energy Community Accession Protocol

Skopje, 24 September 2010 This morning Mr. Yuriy Boyko, Minister of Fuel and Energy Ukraine, and Mr. Fatmir Besimi, Minister of Economy of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in his function as the Energy Community Presidency in Office, signed a Protocol on the accession of Ukraine to the Energy Community. Representing the Vice- Presidency, Mr. Fabrizio Barbaso, Deputy Director General for Energy at the European Commission also took part in the ceremony.

EUEA participated in VI Ukrainian Municipal Forum in Yalta

Jalta Konferenz B urgermeister 181EUEA participated in VI Ukrainian Municipal Forum held on September 9-10 in Yalta. The event was organized by USAID’s Municipal Heating Reform Project and Development Initiative for Advocating Local Governance in Ukraine (DIALOGUE) Project together with Association of Ukrainian Cities. EUEA Director, Elena Rybak briefly introduced the Agency and EUEA Member Haase Energietechnik AG presented the landfill biogas project in Kremenchug.

EUEA at 8th JRC Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Moscow

Representatives of EUEA participated at the 8th JRC Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Buildings held in Moscow on September 2-3, 2010. The event was jointly held by Joint Research Center of European Commission and Russian Energy Agency.
The overall aim of the workshop was to contribute to the implementation of the new energy efficiency projects, measures, policies and financing schemes in Candidate Countries and European Neighborhood Policy Partner Countries with particular focus on improving end-use energy efficiency in buildings and industry.

Legislation: Ukrainian Law on Land for Energy Facilities Came into Force

On 17th of August 2010, the new Law of Ukraine “On Lands for Energy Facilities and the Legal Regime of Special Areas for Energy Facilities” came into force.

The main purpose of this law is to define the main legal and organizational basis of the procedure of land allocation and the use of lands for energy facilities, including setting and observing the legal regime of lands for energy facilities provided for the continuous operation of such objects.

EUEA Representatives Participated in the Conference “Promoting Energy Security and Investment in the Black Sea Area: The Role of Multilateral Cooperation”

On 27 July 2010, the Energy Charter Secretariat in cooperation with the organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Ukraine organized a conference on Promoting Energy Security and Investment in the Black Sea Area: the Role of Multilateral Cooperation.
