EU standards on SOx, NOx, dust and CO2 emission<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of SOx, NOx and dust emissions&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Technological modernisation of&nbsp; coal industry&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Following EU and EEC directives that regulate pollutive emissions in EU and that are obligatory for implementation in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Directive <span ><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/eia\/eia-legalcontext.htm\">85\/337\/EEC<\/a><\/strong><\/span> Environmental Impact Assessment<\/p>\n<p>Directive <span ><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy-community.org\/pls\/portal\/docs\/36281.PDF%20\">97\/11\/EC<\/a><\/strong><\/span> On the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment<\/p>\n<p>Directive <span ><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX:32003L0035\">2003\/35\/EC<\/a><\/strong><\/span> drawing up of certain plans and programmes relating to the environment and amending with regard to public participation&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oleg Zhyzhko<\/strong>, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, announced the following statistics for the coal industry in Ukraine. There are 84 coal power stations across Ukraine, 79 of which are in need for reconstruction. Hence, to keep the maximum affordable SO2 level in the air (which is 0,33 particles per 1 sqr. meter), we shall start with the refurbishment immediately, though the system operator cannot withdraw more than 5 objects per year.<\/p>\n<p>The National Plan, based on Article 32 of <span ><strong><a href=\"%20http:\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/LexUriServ\/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2010:006:0001:0005:EN:PDF\">2010\/15\/EC<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and <span ><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=celex:32001L0080\">2001\/80\/EC<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, outlines the withdrawal of 46.26 GW of coal power plants capacity and building 21.97 GW of brand new ones by 2033.
