\"EUEAOn July 7, 2016<\/strong>, EUEA’s Director, Ms.<\/strong> Valentina Belyakova<\/strong>, took part in the meeting of the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Mr. Igor Nasalyk<\/strong>, with the representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce and the European Business Association.<\/p>\n

In October 2015<\/strong> the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry, ACC and EBA concerning the Rapid response mechanism on issues related to the investor’s activities in the energy sector of Ukraine. EUEA also joined to this Memorandum  in February 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Nasalyk said that in regard with the Memorandum it is planned to create a Working group on responding to the problems of investors in the Ukrainian energy sector. Such mechanism will help the Ministry to respond more effectively to the problems of the investors in the Ukrainian energy sector.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the business associations were able to ask questions to the Minister. Thus was raised a number of issues, including – gas reserve stock, possibility of the electricity import, working strategy of the Ministry , participation of the Ministry in the working group at NKREKP on gas quality and others.<\/p>\n

Representatives of Japanese companies were interested in the Ministry’s position on the possibilities to invest in the construction of small power plants near deposits of the brown coal and implementation of the projects using coal mine gas.<\/p>\n

Among other issues EUEA also asked about further actions with the project “BEST 20”, so we expect extension of the project in the nearest future.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in order to create a favorable investment climate for business and attracting investments in the energy sector of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
