industrial companies to access<br \/>\ncapital for the implementation of energy management systems and other energy efficiency<br \/>\nmeasures.<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Public Joint-Stock<br \/>\nCompany Joint Stock Bank,\u201c UkrGasBank \u201d have signed a contract that will enable the launch<br \/>\nand operation\u00a0of a US$1.5m Loan Guarantee\u00a0Fund as special financial mechanism within<br \/>\nthe framework of the UNIDO-GEF project, Introduction of Energy Management System<br \/>\nStandard in Ukrainian Industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Loan Guarantee Fund is expected to play an important role in boosting activities and the<br \/>\nfurther development of Ukraine\u2019s market for industrial energy efficiency.<br \/>\nSupported by national stakeholders, and facilitated by\u00a0 Citibank Europe PLC ,\u00a0the Loan<br \/>\nGuarantee Fund aims to help industrial companies access capital for the implementation of<br \/>\nenergy management systems in line with ISO 50001 and other energy efficiency measures.<br \/>\nThe Loan Guarantee Fund is the first guarantee-based financial mechanism launched by a UN<br \/>\nagency with a selected financial partner in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>UNIDO believes that it is especially important to have such a financial instrument available<br \/>\nfor Ukrainian industries during this COVID-19 recovery times to support them with<br \/>\nadditional resources that can be dedicated to improve assets optimization and bottom-line<br \/>\nperformance through energy efficiency, and ultimately help
