Oleksandra Gumeniuk, Director EUEA, took part in the discussion on conceptual approaches to the formation of the economic policy until 2030 “Development of the energy sector, mining and effective environmental protection”, which took place with the participation of the Prime Minister of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The discussion took place within the framework of the Working Group, which brings together all key stakeholders to develop the National Economic Strategy 2030, including representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Office of the President, the Verkhovna Rada, business associations and analytical expert groups.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that energy is one of the fundamental sectors of the economy. Energy accounts –\u00a0 <\/span>15% of GDP, 5% of employment, 16% of taxes.<\/p>\n

The Acting Minister of Energy, Yuriy Vitrenko, noted in his speech on the main directions of the ministry’s work, in particular, the development of green energy, hydrogen economy, energy efficiency, etc. Unfortunately, the details of the plans to resolve the crisis itself not in the RES sector were not discussed.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Oleksandra Gumeniuk noted the following in her speech:<\/p>\n

“We understand that there is a difficult situation in the energy sector\/market and have been patiently waiting for 6 months to see path for MOU implementation. But as of now we see total uncertainty – (1) 40% old debt repayment – not clear how much and when will be paid; (2) 60% old debt repayment – 15% quarterly – we heard the idea about Ukrenergo green bonds, but there is no clarity\/timeline for that – hard to assess if it real solution; (3) current payments in 2021 – in the absence of the state budget co-financing deficit will be 20-25% (UAH 12-15 billion)… We hear many conflicting ideas from different officials, but really want to see some comprehensive and official plan from the Government\u00bb.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
