Not only are there untapped opportunities in the region, due to windy locations, sunny days, and, in some countries, a large hydropower potential, but there is also increasing interest from foreign investors and financiers in renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among investors developing renewable energy projects in the region are WV International NBT, CWP, Masdar, ElicioWind, Akuo Energy, Ivicom Energy, Voltalia, EDF, EVN, Verbund, and many others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The upcoming event organised by Invest In Network will cover the recent developments in the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><b>DATE &amp; TIME: <\/b><\/strong><br \/>\nJune 1, 09:30 \u2013 11:00 GMT<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><b>FREE REGISTRATION:<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_8_0K4VLIRwWEX55WiPB3bg\"><u>https:\/\/zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_8_0K4VLIRwWEX55WiPB3bg<\/u><\/a><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among speakers:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Petar Mitrovic, Vice-Chairman, the AmCham Serbia Energy Committee<\/li>\n<li>Magnus Johansen, Vice President, NBT<\/li>\n<li>Zeljko Djuric, General Manager \u2013 Director, Vetroelektrane Balkana (WEBG)<\/li>\n<li>Marija Filipovska, Partner, CMS<\/li>\n<li>Lorenc Gordani, Public and Business Law, Tirana Business University (TBU)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WV International\u00a0NBT\u00a0is developing the largest portfolio of projects, with a capacity of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/balkangreenenergynews.com\/norwegian-nbt-joins-windvision-on-800-mw-of-wind-projects-in-serbia\/\">800 MW<\/a>. The target is to have all the wind farms in operation by 2026, with the first 168 MW coming online in 2023. The company is also developing solar power to diversify its green portfolio in Serbia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Investors led by Masdar own the largest wind farm in Serbia so far, the 158 MW \u010cibuk 1. They are preparing another project, \u010cibuk 2, envisaged to have 300 MW. A new wind farm will be built in Serbia\u2019s northeast. The first phase, with a capacity of 150 MW, should start in 2023, and the construction of the second phase is to follow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While Albania currently has no installed wind power plants, at the end of 2020, a 150\u00a0MW wind tender was launched, restricted to projects with a minimum capacity of 30 MW and a maximum capacity of 75\u00a0MW. Each successful bidder will sign a 15-year PPA for the sale of 100% of electricity generated through the CfD support mechanism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the same time, two solar projects in Albania were awarded to Voltalia in 2021. 140\u00a0MW of solar will be built in Karavasta, near the city of Fier, of which 70\u00a0MW will be supported through a PPA, while the rest will be sold at market price. Another project is a 100\u00a0MW solar PV plant in Durr\u00ebs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">North Macedonia plans to reach a\u00a050% share of renewables\u00a0in electricity production by 2024 and to phase out coal. Currently, the government is to determine which firms and consortiums among the ten applicants qualify for the construction and operation of the 333 MW \u010cebren hydropower plant.
