Yesterday, June 15, 2021, a round table on the development of the renewable energy sector in Ukraine was held with the participation of leading RES Associations, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, Chairman of the Board of PJSC “NPC \u201cUkrenergo\u201d Volodymyr Kudrytskiy, Distinguished Ambassadors of different countries, People’s Deputies of the IDA “Clean Energy-Healthy Environment” and investors in the RES sector.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During the meeting, each participant had the opportunity to express their views and ask constructive questions to government representatives. The position of the Energy Community on the \u201cprospects\u201d of Ukrenergo certification, joining ENTSO-E, was mentioned, while the company’s debt is EUR 27.5 billion. Everyone agreed that the main problem in the development of the RES sector in Ukraine is the lack of a properly functioning market. Unresolved issues are the Constitutional proceedings, which inhibit the financial activities of RES investors, the old debt for 2020 in the amount of about EUR 500 million to RES electricity producers, the new growing debt in current arrears in 2021, and the draft law \u21165600, which aims to introduce excise duty on electricity from RES, which in turn contradicts the signed Memorandum of Understanding and creates an additional illegal burden on investors in “green” energy.<\/div>\n

The problems of the RES sector are not only a question of Ukraine, it is an international level because more than a third of investments came from abroad. Another third – Ukrainian investors – small and medium-sized businesses, 30 thousand households that have installed mini solar stations on the roofs. Therefore, the problem needs to be resolved as soon as possible to avoid escalating the conflict with investors.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
