The event is organised by a UK-based consultancy Invest in Network.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most important regional renewables conference\u00a0for the third year will bring together government authorities, both state and private sector companies from\u00a0<strong><b>Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Turkey,<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0as well as IFIs, DFIs, and foreign private investors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The war in Ukraine has further disrupted an already volatile market, in which energy prices were rising due to post-lockdown energy demand exceeding supply. Today,\u00a0<strong><b>self-sufficiency and energy independence<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0talks no longer amount to rhetoric. Utilising vast renewable energy potential, increasing interconnection and facilitating system flexibility and market liberalisation are of paramount importance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the same time, the Black Sea region is emerging as a renewables hub and there is a political will to cooperate on the regional level prioritising clean energy transition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe need to increase the share of renewables, untapping the potential of offshore wind, storage and hydrogen,\u201d said Dan Dragos Dragan, <strong><b>Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy of Romania<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0at the opening of the conference in 2021. \u201cFor Bulgaria a realistic path includes improving energy efficiency, increasing renewable and nuclear energy and using natural gas as a transition fuel,\u201d continued Miroslav Damianov, <strong><b>Deputy Minister of Energy of Bulgaria<\/b><\/strong>. \u201cThe main challenges include energy security and energy poverty and we all realise that cooperation in the Black Sea region should be based on the EU values of solidarity and rule of law,\u201d said Yaroslav Demchenkov, <strong><b>Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Investing in renewable energy in the Black Sea region is gaining momentum. Massive investments in <strong><b>new projects<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0have been announced for the coming years.\u00a0The recently announced <strong><b>M&amp;A deals<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0have mostly targeted wind power and solar PV projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among well-known international developers and investors regularly attending the event are EMERGY (Norway), Scatec (Norway), Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (Germany), Northland Power (Canada), Acciona Generaci\u00f3n Renovable (Spain), European Energy (Denmark), PNE (Germany), Low Carbon (UK), CWP Global (Australia), Verbund Green Power (Austria), and many others. Among the financial institutions represented at the event are the World Bank, IFC, EBRD, AFD, EIB, IIB, ADB, KfW, Proparco, FMO, Green For Growth Fund, and Black Sea Trade &amp; Development Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event comprises a <strong><b>2-day Utility-scale Conference <\/b><\/strong>(07-08 February) addressing the green transition challenges and a <strong><b>Rooftop Solar Day<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0(09 February) introduced to enable rooftop solar project matchmaking and solar product distribution in the Black Sea region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><b>European-Ukrainian Energy Agency<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0is the event\u2019s official Knowledge Partner.
