In Central and Eastern Europe, people pay more for energy than in the Western – study

newsHungarian energy regulator MEKH instructed Finnish consulting company VaasaETT expand the coverage of their household energy prices Index (HEPI) for 8 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Analysis as of September shows that using standard purchasing power Eurostat  metodology, the average regulated price of electricity in Central and Eastern Europe is 18% higher than in the EU -15 ( EU member states to expand in 2004 ). For gas the difference is not so great (4%), but still significant.
