“Government is very active in attracting funds of international financial institutions. To be more particular, there are 14 cities of Ukraine involved into the “Urban Infrastructure Development” project of the World Bank with the project costs of $ 140 million” – said Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vilkul during the Ministry of Regional Development board meeting in Lviv. Those are about 230 energy efficiency projects in the field of construction and communal services (HCS) with the most progress in Lviv (16 projects), Ivano-Frankivsk (12 projects), Khmelnitsky (11 projects) and Chernivtsi (11 projects) regions. Given that the majority of the Ukrainian regions did not develop the mechanism of dealing with the mentioned projects Alexander Vilkul also entrusted the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Communal Services of Ukraine with provision of systematic coordination and methodological support to boost implementation of the energy-saving projects in communal sector (relevant publication is available HERE in Ukrainian).
At the same time, the government is busy improving conditions for energy efficient lighting. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine amended the Annexes 2 and 3 of the State Target Scientific and Technical Program “Energy Saving LED Light Sources Development and Lighting Systems Implementation”. According to Vladimir Seminozhenko, Head of the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization the legislative changes on LEDs will help to save UAH 2 billion by 2020 (relevant publication is available HERE in Ukrainian).
