The 4th European-Ukrainian Energy Day, organized by European-Ukrainian energy Agency and Conference House on 31 May, gave an overall review and discussed current energy efficiency, renewable and overall market issues, featuring local and international speakers who presented and talked about market trends, opportunities and barriers, sharing their expertise and providing useful market news.
Among speakers, Mr. Janez Kopac, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Vienna, claimed that the increase of the utility bill wouldn’t lead Ukraine out of its energy crisis, neither would it win popular support (you may read the full article in Russian HERE). Mr. Kopac also commented on the terms of Ukrainian gas-transport system renovation under the IMF cooperation (you may read the full article in Russian HERE).
During the event, various experts provided important comments on the outcome of the cheap gas policy in Ukraine and its impact on the RES developments, saying that in the long-term Ukraine will anyways have to consider development of alternative energy, i.e RES (watch the full interview in Russian HERE).
NERC, through its representative, announced that 115 enterprises are currently operating in Ukraine benefiting from the “green tariff”, including the first biomass thermal plant that is to start full capacity operations in October 2013 in Kyiv district (you may read the full article in Russian HERE).
