The Energy Community Secretariat underlined its support for the adoption without delay of the “Draft Law of Ukraine on Operating Principles of the Electricity Market of Ukraine”, in a letter sent to the Energy Committee Chairman in the Ukrainian Parliament on 30 August.
The Secretariat confirmed in its latest assessment of the draft law that it will significantly improve Ukraine’s compliance with the Energy Community Treaty compared to existing legislation. In particular, the draft law will contribute to the liberalization of the wholesale and – to some extent – retail electricity markets. Nevertheless, the Secretariat has submitted additional comments and recommendations to further improve a few individual provisions.
