Today, the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA) presents a new analytical report created with the support of the European Climate Foundation.
Amid the challenges faced by Ukraine’s energy sector, distributed generation has become a priority for restoring the energy system and enhancing its resilience. The installation of self-generation systems has attracted significant attention from consumers. From households to large enterprises, more and more consumers are seeking opportunities to produce electricity on their own using solar power stations, gas generating units, and energy storage systems.
In our study, we analyzed the current market situation by gathering data on the installed generation capacities of active consumers. We examined the economic incentives for transitioning to a self-generation model, identified barriers, and explored opportunities for the development of distributed generation. Specifically, we investigated the use of energy storage systems on the consumer side. Based on the results of the study, we have developed specific proposals to improve the process of installing and operating generating installations and energy storage systems for various categories of consumers.
