Twenty-three innovative demonstration projects for renewable energy will receive funding of more than 1.2 billion EUR after the European Commission chose them.
The projects are located in 16 EU countries, will be financed from profits obtained from pollutants that bought permits for emissions. Each such permit provides an opportunity for those who bought it, to emit one ton of carbon dioxide.
