EUEA logoFrom  25 to 28 February 2013, the IV Adam Smith Ukrainian Energy Forum, supported by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, took place in the “Intercontinental” hotel in Kyiv. This important event was organized by “Adam Smith Conferences” while European-Ukrainian Energy Agency was its Information Partner

Among others, the conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Boiko, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitskiy and Oleg Proskuryakov, Minister of Ministry of Ecology & Natural Resources of Ukraine and Vladyslav Kaskiv, Head of State Agency for National Projects of Ukraine. In particular, Yuri Boiko in his speech noted about the Ukrainian intention to increase to 11% the proportion of energy gained from renewable energy sources in the energy balance of the country.

Key issues discussed at the forum, included the development of an LNG-terminal, and the agreement between NAK “Nadra Ukrainy” and Shell on the extraction of unconventional or shale gas in the “Yuzivska” plane. It is worth to notice that the first day of the conference was entirely devoted to the topic of shale gas, which was discussed during the specialized session workshop “Shale gas Ukraine”.

Renewable energy sources were the highlight of the final day of the conference, on February 28th. , Several representatives of EUEA member-organisations such as West-Crimean WPP, Activ Solar, DTEK, EuroCape New Energy, Rengy Development, Alter Energy Group, IMEPOWER Consulting, Filasa International together with other  project development companies dealing with wind-, solar- and biomass energy took part in this.
