EUEA logo text ENGOn June 9, 2015 European-Ukrainian Energy Agency together with the Children protection center “Our Kids” held a conference “Energy Democracy in Ukraine: Personal Responsibility”. The theme, which is usually omitted by the journalist’s attention, citizen’s responsibility on the path to sustainable development of the energy market in Ukraine. Final consumer of energy is the most important subject of the energy market.

Participants discussed ways and solutions in reducing energy dependence at the households’ level, ways of transition to more energy-efficient sources, legal aspects, which will face households in the case of installing such equipment, how households can get green tariff, the need of personal responsibility for energy consumption and relevant consequences for the country.

Also during the event there was a viewing tour to the geothermal installation that operates at the center “Our Kids”. This system allows economizing annual cost on utilities almost 9 times. More details about the project can be found here.
