Generation of RES in Ukraine in some hours already exceeds the generation from TPP:
The generation of electricity from renewable sources (RES) in Ukraine, such as wind and solar power, in some hours already exceeds electricity production at thermal power plants.
This can be seen through the dispatching data of the operator of the transmission system of NEC “Ukrenergo”.
According to the data, on March 15, for the first time in 4 hours from 11:00 to 15:00, the excess of electricity production from RES over coal TPPs was first observed. The maximum capacity of RES was reached at 1378 hours at 2978 MWh, with TPP capacity at this time being only 2 294 MWh. Due to favorable weather conditions, a similar situation was observed on 18 and 19 March.

Quarantine may cause 8.2% reduction in electricity consumption in March 2020:
Since the introduction of the quarantine on March 12, due to the threat of the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic, electricity consumption in Ukraine has decreased by almost 4%: from 411 million kWh before the introduction of the quarantine on March 11 to 395.6 kWh on March 19.
In addition to quarantine measures, such as limitation of the work of objects of the communal sector, shopping centers (malls), service companies, educational institutions, limitation of production of industrial enterprises, etc., the warm spring weather contributes to the reduction of electricity consumption. As a result, in March, monthly consumption is projected to decline by 8.2% compared to the same period in 2019.
