Ukraine received almost 17,2 million Euros from the EU in the period 2014-2019 in the energy efficiency sector, which is almost twice more, comparing to 2010-2014.
The total amount to all sectors of financial and technical assistance from the European Union in the period 2010-2013 in Ukraine was nearly four hundred million euros (390,310,746,8), and in 2014-2019, almost six hundred million euros (581,635,947.86).
The number of supported energy efficiency and renewable projects has increased from 10 to 18 projects.
The main projects of 2010-2013 were: Building the ability of State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Energy saving in public buildings in Zorinsk, Municipal Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Zelenodolsk, Energy efficient improvements in Burshtyn.
No less important funding project was the project: Young energy saving experts on energy conservation in the schools of the border areas. Whose main purpose was raising awareness and sustainability of energy use and reducing related carbon emissions in schools in the border areas through a joint educational program designed for teaching secondary school students (13-17 years) with practical skills in energy management and their application in schools.
The most financed projects of 2014-2017 were: Establishment of the system of automated monitoring of energy resources in budget institutions of the city and thermo-modernization of buildings Palace of Culture “Energetik” and Sports Complex “Energetik” with the use of renewable energy sources, Increase of energy efficiency in educational institutions of Sumy city, APSED for MESR: practical implementation of APSED in the direction of sustainable, intelligent and energy efficient urban lighting in Chernivtsi, Assistance to Ukraine in the process of implementing reforms in the energy sector in accordance with Ukraine’s international commitments, Modernization of the production, supply and consumption of the thermal district in the city of Myrgorod.
In 2019, the start got a project on strengthening the potential of State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine for the development of energy production from renewable sources, production and use of alternative fuels, with a budget of 1 million euros.
In total, almost 305.5 million Euros Ukraine has received of international technical and financial support in the energy and energy efficiency sector for the period 2010-2019, not only from the EU but also from donors such as Denmark, EBRD, IBRD, NEFCO, Germany, UN, USA, Switzerland and Sweden. The volumes of assistance from the above-mentioned Donors to the energy sector of Ukraine are indicated in the Diagram below:
