Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry estimates losses of Ukrainian energy sector as a result of the annexation of Crimea by Russia as USD 300 billion.
“With all of the energy facilities in the Crimea, we can talk about the hundreds of billions of dollars lost to Ukraine’s energy sector. We figured – about USD 300 billion,” – said Minister of Energy of Ukraine. Prodan also said that the potential energy resource reserves in the Black Sea reaching about 2.3 billion tons of fuel equivalent.
The Minister also emphasized that in case of electricity shortage in the continental part of the country during the fall and winter heating season due to failure of generating capacity in the Donbas – Crimea will also face a power limit.
