“Our company has been following the path of energy saving and sustainable development in general for a long time. Currently, “SILPO-FOOD” does not have an energy management system certification according to ISO50001. Instead, the company implemented an energy management system that has 4 main stages: energy planning, implementation of energy saving projects, verification and control of results, management analysis and further optimization”.

Among the examples of implemented energy consumption optimization projects, Bohdan Deiko noted the following:
1 – Replacement of fluorescent lamps of refrigerating furniture with LED. As a result: saving 2.5 times the volume of electricity consumed by the equipment.
2- Replacement of accent MHL lamps with LEDs in shopping halls. As a result: saving up to 50% of the volume of electricity consumption by the equipment. The service life of the equipment has increased from 9,000 hours to 50,000 hours.
3- Testing of enclosing constructions for tightness. As a result, we were able to identify hidden places of construction leaks, improved the quality of construction works, reduced the cost of operating costs, and improved the comfort of building users.

A separate successful project is the construction of the Silpo ReCycling “Green” store in Sofiivska Borshchagivka. The main goal of engineering systems is the use of energy-efficient modern technologies based on renewable energy sources.
This project uses innovative and energy-saving technical solutions, such as a geothermal heat pump (provides heating and cooling of the supermarket), rooftop solar power plant (annual electricity generation is more than 220,000 kWh/year), CO2 cooling system (using carbon dioxide in the cooling system instead of freon, which has better energy efficiency indicators), outdoor lighting using solar panels and batteries, charging stations for electric cars, etc.
Among the ecological solutions implemented: a station for accepting recycled materials, carts that are 25% made of recycled fishing nets and ropes, electronic price tags, bicycle rental, bicycle parking.
This store is the only supermarket in Ukraine that has passed BREEAM “green” building certification.
